Our story

What is the InTouch Foundation

InTouch Foundation is run by volunteers who tirelessly work on a voluntary basis to help sustain and succeed in the work that we do. We have operated this policy since our launch in 2012, our founder Osman Gondal was keen to ensure that we operate on a 100% donation policy. We are proud to say that we remain consistent in this and hope to continue with this policy. We do however have one paid employee and that is our driver, who works for InTouch Foundation on a part time basis.

Our mission

What we believe in

Compassion

Nobody chooses to sleep on the street. We meet people where they are, with food, warmth and zero judgement.

Dignity

Every meal is served with eye contact, conversation and respect. People in crisis are still people first.

Community

We are stronger together. We bring volunteers, schools, mosques and neighbours into the same conversation.

Our team

The people behind the kitchen

A small core team supported by a wide network of volunteers, community champions and ambassadors.

  • Sarah Ahmed

    Founder & Trustee

Started the first Mobile Kitchen run in 2014 and still cooks most Saturday nights.

  • James Whitfield

    Operations Lead

Runs the kitchen rota, vehicle and food safety. Twenty years in catering.

  • Aisha Hussain

    Volunteer Coordinator

Onboards new volunteers and looks after our community champions network.

  • Tom O'Connor

    Treasurer

Keeps the books straight and makes sure every donated penny is accounted for.

"We don't fix homelessness in one Saturday night — but a hot meal, a smile and a 'see you next week' makes the next day a little less lonely."

Sarah Ahmed, Founder

Every Saturday we need cooks, drivers, packers and listeners. Two hours a week is plenty.
